Chest Runs
Where do you guys do chest runs?
I've been doing it around port sledge and I dont seem to get much, the best I got was a +29 Hale Mod, which was VERY hard to sell, I don't find it very profitable, at least where I'm doing it, any suggestions or past experiences?

The chests might give you something. Also the mursaat at the beginning of ring of fire may be soloable since they get sorta distracted on where they want to go.

In my experience, the best chests are to be found in Southern Shiverpeaks, Sorrow's Furnace, UW, and FoW. That's just in relation to cost of key, mind. Beyond that, it's just random dumb luck.

I open Phantom chests while doing Bp runs in tombs, atleast one of the chests is usually gold dropping (take turns seeing which one opens the chest originally to see if its a grape or gold dropping one), and I see alot of good stuff popping out, alot of low req fellblades, eternal shields, and such.
So I say chests on the higher end are good.
i've NEVER gotten anything decent out of darkstone and shiver chests though.

There is something I'm really curious about: its widely accepted that keys have been introduced to make players spend much gold. Yet finding chests to use the keys on is such a time consuming thing... Not to mention that you should not repeat the same run too often because of the anti farming mechanism. If Arenanet wants players to buy lots of keys, than why don't they put much more chests in the maps??

I get junk out of SSP chests these days because I ran the chests in Witman's Folly outside Port Sledge all the time.
As a W/Me, it was one of the few places I could just run without getting crippled or DoTed to death. Now I did it too much, so I always get garbage like "of dwarfslaying" or hale heads +24. I don't even bother opening SP chests anymore unless I get a key drop from a monster.
As an aside, I always thought that if you opened specific chests too often those chests dropped junk, but it seems more that it's the TYPE of chest you open. If I go to Ice Floe or THK and farm SSP chests, I still get complete garbage from them even though I'd only opened a very small number in those areas up until now.
All that said, I like Maguuma. The items themselves usually aren't valuable, but if you're patient enough you can usually get some nice salvage piles built up. Plus, killing the White Mantle on the way usually yeilds two or three runes.

I always get junk like that but i have never done chest runs so im guessing its nothing to do with doing chest runs..unless im just very unlucky.. its probably that. i always get the junk, whether from a chest or a drop its always junk.

personally i never run chests solo because of trends ive noticed. the first drop out of a chest is 80% of the time total CRAP. as is the last drop.
my personal rules for chest opening.
1) try to be the 3rd or 4th person (got 3 chaos axes in a row this way)
2) never be last (got 5 shadow staffs in a row this way)
3) always trick the noob in the group to try the chest first.
4) always bring one noob in your FOW group for opening chests (this is why i always bring an interrupt ranger in FoW)
if you follow those 4 rules youll get good loot.

I made ~200 Chest runs, spend ~350k on keys, get 18 Chaos axes req.8
(one was 15^50, one 15% -5) 6 Shadow blades req.8 (one was 15 always but -1 hp) 4 Fellblades req.8 (one was 20<50) and 2-3 Casters (perfect ones)
All that I have written on paper like "My best drops"
and BTW think that only one req.8, 15^50 chaos pay back that 350k
spent on keys
EDIT: Nirhan, you are TOTALY in wrong...
